With business problems growing more complex and companies implementing projects that span the globe, there is an increased need for effective Project Management skills. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Project Management at Al Ain University of Science and Technology (AAU) is designed for leaders in organizations responsible in leading teams for projects. Project Management concentration allows the student to enhance the MBA degree program. In addition, the student gains practical experience that can be applied to the demands of a business setting, including professional communication, corporate team building and business analysis competencies. Prospective students will acquire the management frameworks and leadership strategies required to improve project performance. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Project Management will help and support the graduates on successfully passing the certification examination to become a Project Manager Professional (PMP) of the Project Management Institute (PMI).



To boost business professionals knowledge and practical skills on the core principles of quality management and project analysis, and help them rise to modern challenges of sustainability.



To equips participants with knowledge, skills, and competence to be able to lead and tackle local and global business challenges keeping in view human values, ethics and social responsibility in strategic decision making.



The objective of MBA program in Project Management are:

  • To train expert Project Managers with the capacity to manage budgets, resolving complex issues, and coordinating a project team.
  • Insight into the key aspects of strategic project management and its importance within the global strategy of the organization.
  • Strengthening decision-making related to match people to tasks, organise schedules, and assessing risks
  • Knowing, selecting and adequately using the tools required for the effective management of project budgets.
  • Equipping students with the executive skills required to manage a project team in order to ensure its success.

Admission Requirements

General Admission Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree or its equivalent approved by the UAE Ministry of Education, with a minimum (GPA) of (3 out of 4), or its equivalent on the Bachelor level.
  • A valid English Language Proficiency Certificate in one of the below certificates or its equivalent, at least as the following:

Conditional Requirements 

A student may be granted conditional admission in the Master of Business Administration in the following cases: 

- If a student obtains a score of  (530 in TOEFL ITP) certificate or its equivalent and has an average of at least (3 out of 4), s/he will be granted a conditional admission, provided that the student:

  • Obtains a score of (550 in TOEFL) or (6 in IELTS) by the end of the first semester of joining the program.
  • Registers for no more than (6) credit hours in the first semester of joining the program, and gets a GPA of (3 out of 4).
  • Obtains a GPA of (3 out of 4) in the first (9) hours of the approved program.

- If a student obtains a Bachelor’s degree with a GPA between (2 and 2.99 out of 4) or its equivalent and meets the conditions of the English language certification, as set out above, s/he will be granted a conditional admission, provided that the student:

  • Registers for no more than (9) credit hours in the first semester of joining the program,
  • Obtains a GPA of (3 out of 4) in the first (9) hours of the approved program. A student may study the (9) credit hours in two semesters (3 + 6) or three semesters (3 + 3 + 3).

- Students with Bachelor degrees in specializations unrelated to business administration can advance to the MBA program, taking into account the following conditions:

  • Taking 4 prerequisite courses as specified by a department, and can only be exempted from all remedial materials that have been studied at a Bachelor’s level.

Graduation Requirements

To obtain a Master of Business Administration in Project Management, a student must successfully complete 33 credit hours, with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0.
