About the Program

The College of Business (COB) at Al Ain University offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program in line with the UAE vision of building knowledge economy. The program is offered in six majors that are: 

  1. Management
  2. Accounting
  3. Finance and Banking
  4. Marketing
  5. Human Resource Management
  6. Management Information Systems

To Create and transfer knowledge as well as to develop skills and form attitudes which are necessary for successful management of companies and organizations in a changing environment.  

 

Mission

To provide multidisciplinary educational approach in the field of study to develop effective decision makers and leaders for both public and private sectors. 

 

Objectives

  • Provide students with a high-quality education at internationally approved standards, to enable them to make successful managerial decisions at required levels of managerial competencies.
  • Prepare highly skilled graduates to meet the market demand for professional managers in all business functions.
  • Enhance students’ business professional skills needed for sound decision-making process at relevant managerial positions in all types of organizations.
  • Help students to build the personal professional value system necessary to conduct business and take decisions according to high ethical standards of business conduct.

 

Learning Outcomes

Upon graduation, students should demonstrate that they possess the needed knowledge, skills and competencies as outlined in the following outcomes:

  1. Discipline Knowledge: Demonstrate basic knowledge of the principles, concepts and skills in the field of study.
  2. Problem Solving Skills: Apply quantitative, analytical and information technology skills to solve practical business problems.
  3. Critical Thinking Skills: Demonstrate critical thinking skills to identify and evaluate practical approaches and strategies to solving problems in local and global business environment.    
  4. Research Skills: Evaluate and implement research tools and strategies to analyze business problems and opportunities.
  5. Autonomy and Responsibility: Demonstrate autonomy and responsibility in self-directed work and personal development.
  6. Teamwork and Leadership: Collaborate effectively and professionally in diverse teams as both members and leaders to reflect on personal and professional practice and development
  7. Communication Skills: Communicate effectively in a business context, orally and in writing, in a clear, concise, coherent and professional manner using appropriate presentation technology.
  8. Ethics and Social Responsibility: Consistently act in a professional, respectful, honest, fair and reasonable manner and to apply ethical principles and logical reasoning to make and justify business decisions.

Admission Requirements

  • UAE Secondary School Certificate (Science/Advance, Or General, Or Elite) or its equivalent approved by the UAE Ministry of Education, with a minimum average of 60%.
  • A valid English Language Proficiency Certificate in one of the below certificates or its equivalent, at least as the following:

  • Pass the Math EmSAT with a score not less than (600) or equivalent, (only for BBA in Accounting, and BBA in Finance & Banking).
  • Requirements for proficiency in related subjects:
    (only for BBA in Accounting, and BBA in Finance & Banking).

    • The student's score in the (EmSAT Achieve test) in the relevant subject.
    • Or the student's score in one of the Ministry-approved proficiency tests in the relevant subject.
    • Or the student's grade in the relevant school subject in one of the centralized examination systems, such as; (the British system, the American system, the International Baccalaureate system, the UAE school system, or their equivalent) with a passing (Grade C) or higher.
    • Or the student's score in the university entrance exam administered by the Ministry, passing (Grade C) or higher. If the student does not achieve the required grade, they must take a remedial course (related to the required subject) for a duration of (3) hours in the enrollment semester, which will not be counted in the cumulative GPA.

Graduation Requirements

To obtain a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, a student must successfully complete 123 credit hours as prescribed in the study plan of the corresponding major, with a minimum  (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00. The College of Business offers BBA program in six majors that are Management, Accounting, Finance & Banking, Marketing, Human Resource, and Management Information Systems.
