Orientation Meeting about (EY Excellence Award)

 

Anxious to support the Accounting and Finance students in their career professional development and enhance their employability skills, Professional Development Unit (PDU) and College of Business at Al Ain University of Science & Technology organized a workshop with Ernst & Young (EY) accounting firm to provide the students with the recruitment process at EY and to make sure that they have fully understood it before applying. The workshop was attended by Prof. Abdelhafid Belarbi -AAU Vice President- (Al Ain Campus), Dr Sobhy Elkhatib - Dean of the College of Business, representatives from EY, representatives from College of Business academic members and representatives from Accounting, Finance and Banking Department

The workshop was presented by Ms Najat Hamad from Ernst & Young (EY), Campus Recruitment Consultant- MENATalent Team. In her presentation she took the students through each aspect of the EY Assessment Centre process; what to expect and how to succeed, step-by-step in the recruitment process including written communication exercise, a group exercise, case study exercise, aptitude, English tests and interview. She spoke about how Ernst and Young places a larger-than-normal emphasis on their company’s core values. They want to hire people who demonstrate integrity, respect, and teaming. People with energy, enthusiasm, and the courage to lead. People who build relationships based on doing the right thing.

Dr Adel Ahmed, Director of Professional Development Unit emphasized at the end of the workshop, on the importance for the students to practice during the university life not only to focus on the subject knowledge/skills but also to build on the soft skills or employability skills such as team work skills, communication skills, presentation skills, working under pressure and meeting the deadlines. These types of skills are in need for securing jobs after graduation.
